Unmanned Vehicle University Signs Memorandum of Understanding for Drone Training in MexicoUnmanned Vehicle University Signs Memorandum of Understanding for Drone Training in Mexico

Unmanned Vehicle University (UVU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Mexican Consulate for UVU students to complete drone flight training at two universities in Mexico.

Located in downtown Phoenix at CityScape, Unmanned Vehicle University provides Unmanned Air, Ground, Sea and Space Systems education and training. UVU offers UAV (Drone) Pilot Training as well as a professional certificate in Unmanned Aircraft Systems Project Management and Masters and Doctorate degrees in Unmanned Systems Engineering.

In support of strengthening Arizona's regional aerospace competitiveness Mike Patterson of Polsinelli helped UVU negotiate and sign the MOU with the Mexican Consulate of Phoenix to develop cross-border course offerings to multiple Northern Mexican universities with existing aerospace programs (including CETYS and UABC) and to seek opportunities for U.S. unmanned systems' students for additional hands on training in Mexico.

The MOU seeks to build win-win relationships which will create jobs and increase Arizona and Northern Mexican joint regional unmanned workforce skills to compete in unmanned systems whether driverless cars, aerial systems (aka "drones"), or unmanned naval or submarine systems.

The MOU concludes almost a year of planning by the Mexican Consulate, ProMexico, members of the Arizona Chamber and including a feasibility trip to the Mexicali aerospace sector. This initiative is one more step in fulfillment of higher level cross-border MOU's in educational cooperation signed in the last 2 years by the U.S. and Mexican Presidents and more specifically, to further a strategic and historic cross-border education cooperation MOU signed last year by Arizona Governor Ducey with Mexican President Peña Nieto's Secretary of Education.

The signing of this MOU immediately follows the momentum created by Mayor Stanton's signing of an MOU with the City of Hermosillo the prior week. The Mayor was accompanied by a delegation including Councilman Michael Nowakowski, the Mexican Consul General, ProMexico, the Arizona Chamber, Molera Alvarez, the Phoenix Suns and Mr. Patterson.

For more information about Unmanned Vehicle University, visit http://www.uxvuniversity.com.

5/20/2016 7:00:00 AMCynthia Weaver - 602-534-7633Hank Marshall602-256-3178
