Stanton Opens Hermosillo Trade Office, Announces $2.2 Million Mexican Investment in PhoenixStanton Opens Hermosillo Trade Office, Announces $2.2 Million Mexican Investment in Phoenix<div class="ExternalClassD9266E5F787642CB9ECF66AC51125390"><div>HERMOSILLO, SONORA, MEXICO -- Mayor Greg Stanton and a business delegation from Phoenix officially opened the city’s Northern Mexico trade office on Tuesday in Hermosillo, the city’s second trade office in Mexico. During the opening Etiquetas e Impresiones de Mexico SA DE CV, a Hermosillo-based custom label manufacturing company working directly with the new trade office, announced a $2.2 million capital investment at a facility near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. </div><div><br></div><div>"This office is already helping businesses in Hermosillo expand their trade opportunities and foreign direct investment into Phoenix," Stanton said. “And it will help companies in Arizona find more markets and opportunities with manufacturers and suppliers in Sonora.”</div><div><br></div><div>The Phoenix trade office also provides opportunities for other Valley cities and Arizona in metro area tourism agencies. The downtown Hermosillo office is staffed by both economic development and tourism experts, led by the husband and wife team of Antonio Proto and Ana Maria Araque de Proto. </div><div><br></div><div>Stanton and Councilman Michael Nowakowski were met by a crowd of more than 100 Sonoran business leaders, residents and local media members at the grand opening Tuesday night, along with Karen Ogle, United States Consul General in Hermosillo.</div><div><br></div><div>In his remarks, Stanton emphasized that Phoenix will not let talk in Washington of building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border derail our region’s positive and expanding relationships with our largest trading partner.</div><div><br></div><div>"We are not letting the disruptive and unproductive attitude towards Mexico in Washington interfere with the relationship between Phoenix and Arizona and Sonora."
