But Arizona taxpayers can help by directing up $200 of their state tax liability ($400 for married couples) to the public school of their choice, and get it returned when they file their taxes. Since a 2015 change in the law, tax credits can now be claimed until April 18.

Dr. Covey leads the Maricopa County Education Service Agency, which partnered with the City of Phoenix on the Mayor's "Kids Are Missing Out" campaign, creating a Tax Credit Portal that allows people to easily donate money to schools' extracurricular activity funds.
