City of Phoenix Honored at Diversity Leadership Alliance ConferenceCity of Phoenix Honored at Diversity Leadership Alliance Conference<div class="ExternalClassF79C17B4A1FF48B49521D5C12474A6EC"><p>The city of Phoenix was recognized today at the 2018 Diversity Leadership Alliance (DLA) Annual Conference and Awards.  The DLA recognizes, celebrates and honors companies, organizations and individuals for their work in the areas of diversity and inclusion.</p><p>At the conference the city received a Corporate Award for its longstanding commitment towards human and civil rights inclusion.</p><p>"As one of the fastest growing cities in the country, this award highlights the city's efforts and progress in creating an inclusive and equitable environment where everyone feels valued, and eliminates discrimination by fostering a spirit of caring, collaboration and commitment through fair and transparent services," said Don Logan, director, Equal Opportunity Department.  "Through a collaborative effort between city departments, Phoenix recently launched the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQkJWnniaJ4&feature=youtu.be">PHXRespect campaign</a> designed to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected."</p><p>Since 2012 when the city expanded its anti-discrimination ordinance to include sexual orientation and gender identity, Phoenix has maintained a perfect score on the Municipal Equality Index, evaluated by the Human Rights Campaign for efforts to ensure equal treatment of the LGBTQ community.</p><p>For more information about the city's Equal Opportunity Department, visit <a href="/eod">phoenix.gov/eod</a>. </p><p>The DLA is a nonprofit organization that provides diversity and inclusion education, resources, tools and forums in the Phoenix area.  For more information, visit <a href="http://www.diversityleadershipalliance.net/">diversityleadershipalliance.net</a>.<br></p></div>11/29/2018 7:00:00 AMAlejandro Montiel602-534-3443
