Phoenix and Partners Host Voice Assistant-Focused HackathonPhoenix and Partners Host Voice Assistant-Focused Hackathon<div class="ExternalClass9060B4359A4A4F7C8CB4EA03903BC0C0"><p>​The City of Phoenix, together with The Institute for Digital Progress (iDP), Microsoft, Cox Communications, and the Arizona State University Center for Smart Cities and Regions, is hosting a hackathon, open to top technologists in the metro Phoenix area, to assist the City in harnessing the power of voice assistant technology. </p><div><br></div><div>The Voice Assistance for Cities Hackathon is a limited availability event, with prospective developers required to submit an online application by 11:59 on June 9, 2018. Interested parties can go to the <a href="https://www.azidp.com/programs/voice-assistance-for-cities-hackathon/">AZiDP web page to register.</a></div><div><br></div><div>The kickoff for the hackathon is on June 14, and will go on for a month. A free workshop, called Bot-in-a-Day, on chatbot technology, courtesy of Microsoft, will be the highlight of the kickoff event. Technologies covered in the free workshop include Azure Bot Service, Microsoft Bot Framework, QnA Maker and Cortana, to name a few. The hackathon is a month-long event and will culminate in a live pitch event final on June 26.</div><div><br></div><div>At the final event, participating developers and innovators will be given the opportunity to use what they have learned from the workshop and showcase their tech talents and skills by developing voice-activated solutions which may help solve challenges faced by municipalities and agencies.
