FitPHX to Host Free Family Fitness Event Sept. 16 in Hance ParkFitPHX to Host Free Family Fitness Event Sept. 16 in Hance Park<div class="ExternalClassCCA99AB774484F719662A1302C2E69EC"><p><a href="/parks/fitphx/" target="_blank">Learn more about the FitPHX initiative</a></p><p>FitPHX, the city's healthy community initiative, has partnered with veteran support group Team RWB, Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA and the Arizona Coyotes to present Fit Family Fun Day on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Margaret T. Hance Park, 1202 N. 3rd St. (east side of park).</p><p>The free event will feature interactive group workouts every 20 minutes, that will serve as a preview of the 10-week FitPHX Fall into Fitness series, sponsored by AARP, that begins Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Hance Park. The free series will feature different workout formats, including Core de Force, Insanity, PiYo, P90X, Turbo Kick, Zumba and more.</p><p>In addition to the workout previews, Fit Family Fun Day also will feature hockey clinics provided by the Coyotes Street Team and a variety of local health, wellness and fitness vendors. Select vendors will hold drawings for items such as free gym memberships and personal training sessions. Families can burn off calories by running through an inflatable obstacle course, playing cornhole and an oversized Jenga game, and other activities. Free food and drink will be available, while supplies last.</p><p>Team RWB is a non-profit organization, with a mission to enrich the lives of American veterans through physical and social activity. In addition to joining with FitPHX and other organizations to promote the importance of health and fitness, Team RWB also is using this event as an opportunity for veterans and community members to honor police officers, firefighters and other first responders. </p><p>The FitPHX initiative is led by Mayor Greg Stanton, Councilman Daniel Valenzuela and Olympic Gold Medalist Misty Hyman, with the goal of improving health and wellness in the region and making the Phoenix area one of the healthiest in the nation.
