APS Electric Light Parade Returns for 32nd Year on Saturday, Dec. 1 APS Electric Light Parade Returns for 32nd Year on Saturday, Dec. 1 <div class="ExternalClass7BE38F30142C4C3887566BFF065B0587"><p>​A record number of entries displaying hundreds of thousands of lights will brighten and bring holiday cheer to the streets of central Phoenix on Saturday, Dec. 1 when the <a href="/parks/elp">APS Electric Light Parade</a>, presented by the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, returns for its 32nd edition. This year, entrants will interpret the theme "Magic of the Holidays" and the mascots of various Valley sports teams will have the honor of serving as co-grand marshals.</p><p>The parade starts at 7 p.m. on Central Ave. at Montebello Ave. (just south of Bethany Home Rd.), heads south to Camelback Rd., where it turns east to 7th St., where it turns south to the endpoint at Indian School Rd. An interactive parade route map and comprehensive event information is available at <a href="/parks/elp"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Phoenix.gov/ELP</span></a>. Attendees are encouraged to use the hashtag <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23phxlightparade&ref_src=twsrc%5etfw" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">#PhxLightParade</span></a> on social media to interact and stay informed.</p><p>Parade enthusiasts also may come out during judging and pre-parade activities on Friday, Nov. 30 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for the popular Parade Preview Event at North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 N. Central Ave., when all motorized entries will be lit up for official review. This event is designed for families to see the floats close-up during judging. The parade route runs near the Light Rail stop at Central Ave., just south of Camelback Rd.</div></li><li><div>The parade is a rain or shine event. Check the <a href="https://weather.com/weather/today/l/USAZ0166:1:US" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">weather forecast</span></a> and dress accordingly.</div></li><li><div>Spectators are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for seating.</div></li><li><div>Crowds for this event have grown large in recent years, and viewing spots along the parade route are first-come, first-served. Spectators often start arriving three or more hours prior to parade time to reserve a spot.</div></li><li><div>Parking is available on city streets around the parade route and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
