The teams are ready to play and passionate fans are ready to see all that Phoenix has to offer.</p><p> </p><p>The city of Phoenix is excited to welcome hundreds of thousands of fans to the downtown area over the weekend, and offers some important tips for a safe and enjoyable experience.</p><p> </p><p>Downtown event attendees are strongly encouraged to arrive early, especially those attending the March Madness Music Festival as concerts will be free and feature major entertainment lineups that are anticipated to draw large crowds. Numerous other events also are taking place this weekend in downtown Phoenix. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Transportation </strong></p><p> </p><p>Consider the following transportation tips to plan your trip downtown.  Over the weekend, downtown will experience an increase in vehicular and pedestrian traffic and area visitors are encouraged to take public transit to expedite their travel experience. </p><p> </p><ul><li>Purchase an all-day transit pass for $4 before you ride to ease your travels. Fare vending machines are located at each Valley Metro Rail station.</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>Park at one of the 11 park-and-rides or three supplemental lots and hop on board light Valley Metro Rail.</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>Allow extra time to get to your destination. Long lines and crowds are expected with the large events. </li></ul><p> </p><p>Visit <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Valley Metro's Final Four webpage</span> for more information about public transit.   </p><p> </p><p>A free <strong>trolley service</strong> will be available to shuttle people to and from the Final Four Fan Fest (Phoenix Convention Center) and the March Madness Music Festival (Margaret T. Hance Park) from noon to midnight Friday, March 31 thru Sunday, April 2. The trolley stop at Fan Fest will be located on Second Street, north of Washington Street by Marjerle's Bar & Grill. The trolley stop at the March Madness Music Festival will be located on the south side of Roosevelt Street, east of First Street. </p><p> </p><p>In addition to public transit, consider using <strong>Grid Bike Share</strong> to get around for short trips in the downtown area. Hundreds of the bright lime-green bicycles are available for locals and visitors throughout downtown. Hance Park and the Phoenix Convention Center. </li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>Drivers are encouraged to enter or exit downtown Phoenix from the <strong>west </strong>or <strong>south</strong>. The streets west or south downtown handle greater capacity and are not as heavily used as those east of downtown. </li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>Although Seventh Street will remain open, avoid using it as it will likely experience heavy congestion.</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>Even though most major streets in downtown will remain open, be flexible and allow for additional travel time as some streets will be closed or restricted.
