Phoenix To Host Bicycle Forum April 28Phoenix To Host Bicycle Forum April 28<div class="ExternalClass8E1775501E1C4F3890CA9E3DC51A08CF"><p><a href="/streets/bicycleforum"><img src="/streetssite/MediaAssets/2018_COP_Bike_Forum_med_db.jpg" alt="" style="margin:5px;width:262px;height:262px;vertical-align:auto;float:right;" /></a>The city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department invites you to attend the <a href="/streets/bicycleforum">Phoenix Bicycle Forum</a>, Saturday, April 28.  Centered on the theme of “making connections,” the forum will feature a day of learning, idea sharing and networking with transportation leaders, city representatives, bicycle advocates and local community members to make Phoenix more bicycle friendly. </p><p>Forum keynote speakers include Charles Brown – a national thought leader and a leading voice in encouraging social justice in active transportation and senior researcher and adjunct professor at Rutgers University; and Jimmy Hallyburton – a nationally recognized bicycle movement leader and executive director and founder of the Boise Bicycle Project.  </p><p>As part of the bicycle forum a panel session on bikenomics, featuring local community and private development sector representatives, will highlight the economic benefits tied to implementing bicycle friendly initiatives.</p><p>The bicycle forum also will include information and sessions on a range of bicycle topics, such as the city’s draft five-year bicycle program, new bicycle infrastructure under design, balancing bicycle needs with other transportation modes, and protected bike lanes. In addition, there will be a bicycle-safety rodeo and workshop for children. During the forum attendees will be able to register their bicycle with the Police Department – the bicycle registration program is designed to aid in the recovery of lost or stolen bicycles.</p><p><strong>This is a free event and everyone is encouraged to attend.</strong> To register please visit the event webpage at <a href="/streets/bicycleforum">phoenix.gov/streets/BicycleForum</a>. <br> <br><strong>The bicycle forum will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 28, at the A. E. England Building, 424 N. Central Ave. (doors open at 9:30 a.m.).</strong></p><p>Attendees are encouraged to use public transit, ride a bicycle and carpool. The A.E. England Building does not have onsite parking availability and nearby parking options are limited.  The Central Station transit hub for light rail and city busses is located adjacent to the A.E. England Building.
