Meet the management staff
Street Transportation is made up of five divisions. The divisions and their functions are detailed below:
The largest division in the department, Street Maintenance maintains the city's roadways and other assets in the right-of-way. Staff repairs asphalt and potholes, sweeps streets and removes debris, conducts street resurfacing, removal of weeds in unimproved right-of-way, responds to ADA issues in the right-of-way, grades and dustproofs alleys, responds to storm related issues such as flooded streets and clogged storm drains, and provides wash maintenance.
The Street Maintenance Dispatch number is available 24 hours/7 days a week. To report a problem in the street, call 602-262-6441.
Traffic Services is responsible for ensuring the safe movement of vehicular/non-vehicular traffic and pedestrians. This division processes requests for new and replacement street signs, installs and repairs traffic signals, and provides information to the community on school-related and other safety issues.
Staff can assist residents with removal of visibility obstructions in the street, provide ways to address parking issues neighborhood cut-through traffic and other safety issues. Traffic Services staff also provides citywide bikeway coordination, and permits to use right-of-way for construction or special events

Transportation Planning and Programming
Transportation Planning and Programming provides transportation planning, coordination and plan review for new developments, manages federal aid requests and associated compliance activities, and coordinates the department's capital improvement program. Staff also oversees city street lights, utility coordination and inspections, labor compliance, citywide procurement, small business enterprise, and floodplain/drainage programs.
Design and Construction Management
Design and Construction Management is responsible for coordinating the design and construction management and inspection of city-funded projects in the right-of-way (streets, storm drains, sidewalks, and landscaping). Staff also provides survey services and materials testing for other city departments.
Management Services provides services such as fiscal management, technical services, GIS mapping, and human resources to the department.
