The Vertical Project Management (VPM) Section of the Street Transportation Department's Design & Construction Management Division provides overall project management for the design and construction elements of city owned properties and facility improvements. VPM focuses mainly on the CIP projects for all departments except those with their own CIP project management staff. VPM also provides project management assistance for tenant improvements through the Operations and Maintenance divisions that develop into construction projects. Typical projects include municipal buildings, police and fire facilities, parks infrastructure and landfill improvements.
VPM works closely with the Procurement Section of the Department, other client departments, design consultants and contractors to study, program, design, permit, construct and finally open facilities throughout the city. VPM efforts begin with a Request For Services, continue through the selection process for consultants contractors and management of these services, and end after the construction warranty period.
