Description

This major street improvement project will install several safety improvements for drivers and pedestrians at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing at the 35th Avenue and Harrison intersection.

Project Highlights

  • Improve roadway approaches at the tracks, including curb and gutter, sidewalk and pavement
  • Install a raised median for access control and to accommodate new gate arms
  • New cantilevers and gate arms by Union Pacific Railroad

Goals of the Project

  • Improve vehicular and pedestrian safety at the railroad crossing
  • Upgrade ramps and sidewalks to be ADA accessible
  • Secure federal funding for railroad safety improvements (Federal Highway Administration Section 130)

Anticipated Schedule

  • Design – Complete
  • Construction has begun and is anticipated to be complete June 2023
