Planned Major Street Restrictions and Closures

This listing only includes streets maintained and operated by the city of Phoenix. The information included in this listing represents the major planned activities reported to the Street Transportation Department Right of Way Management Office. This listing does not reflect unplanned restrictions or closures associated with flooding, traffic collisions, fires, utility failures or other emergencies.

The traveling public is advised to be aware of the following planned major street restrictions and closures.

New Restrictions


Broadway Road - 59th Avenue to 67th Avenue

Broadway Road between 59th and 67th avenues will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday, March14, Monday, March 18 and Wednesday, March 20.

Through eastbound traffic will be detoured at 67th Avenue.

Through westbound traffic will be detoured at 59th Avenue.

Local and business access will be maintained.

This restriction is required for construction related to ADOT's Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway). Connect 202 Partners is managing the project. For more information call 1-855-763-5202.

Lower Buckeye Road - 67th Avenue to 59th Avenue

Lower Buckeye Road between 67th and 59th avenues will be closed at 8 p.m. Friday, March 22 through 5 a.m. Monday, March 25.

All bus stops will be closed on Lower Buckeye Road between 67th and 59th avenues.

Local and business access will be maintained.

Roosevelt Street - 59th Avenue to 51th Avenue

Roosevelt Street between 59th and 51th avenues will be closed at 7 p.m. Friday, March 15 through 12 p.m. Saturday, March 16.

Local and business access will be maintained at Roosevelt Street and 57th Avenue.

This restriction is required for construction related to ADOT’s Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway). Connect 202 Partners is managing the project. For more information call 1-855-763-5202.


Thomas Road -11th Avenue to 13th Avenue

Westbound Thomas Road between 11th and 13th avenues will be restricted to a single lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday, March 14 through Wednesday, March 20.

This restriction will be in place to accommodate construction for private.


59th Avenue - McDowell Road to Roosevelt Street

59th Avenue between McDowell Road and the Interstate 10 Freeway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday, March 17 through Thursday, March 21.

Local and business access will be maintained.

Special Events


On Central Fashion Show

This event will take place at CityScape at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 16.

Central Avenue between Jefferson and Washington streets will be closed from 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 15 through 6 a.m. Sunday, March 17.

During this event, Central Avenue through traffic will be detoured at Jefferson Street to Second Street.


Expo Catolica

This event will take place on Monroe Street between Third and Fifth streets (St. Mary’s Basilica).

Monroe Street between Third and Fifth streets will be closed daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17.

Parking garage access will be maintained.


St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place in downtown Phoenix on Saturday, March 16.

The following streets will be closed between 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16:

Third Street - Virginia Avenue to Roosevelt Street
McDowell Road - Seventh Street to Central Avenue

St. Paddy’s Day Street Party

This event will take place at Seamus McCaffrey’s Irish Pub from 9 a.m. Sunday, March 17, through 2 a.m. Monday, March 18.

Monroe Street will be closed between Central and First avenues starting at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 16, through 7 a.m. Monday, March 18.

Parking access will be maintained.


Pot of Gold Music Festival

The Pot of Gold Music Festival will take place at Indian Steele Park Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17.

Central Avenue between Campbell Avenue and Indian School Road will be closed from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. each event night.

Pride Run

This event will take place starting at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23.

This event will consist of a half marathon, 10K and 5K.

The run will begin and end at Jackson and Third streets (Chase Field).

The following streets will be closed starting 3 a.m. on Saturday, March 23:

• Jackson St. – Third Street to Third Avenue
• Third Avenue – Jackson to Van Buren streets
• Washington Street – First to 19th avenues
• 17th Avenue – Adams to Buchanan streets
• Jefferson Street – 19th to Third avenues
• 15th Avenue – Jefferson to Washington streets
• Seventh Avenue – Lincoln to Adams streets
• First Avenue – Roosevelt to Van Buren streets
• Central Avenue – McDowell to Roosevelt streets
• Roosevelt Street – Central to Second avenues
• Fillmore Street – Central to Second avenues

All cross streets, driveways and alleyways will be closed or restricted along the route as the race proceed.

Local and business access will be maintained.

Police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control.

All streets will open to normal traffic by noon Saturday, March 23.

Continuing Restrictions


Camelback Road - Seventh Street to 24 Street, partial restrictions through September 2019 to accommodate Southwest Gas utility work. For more information call 602-532-6100.

Dobbins Road - 63rd Avenue to 61st Avenue, full closure in place through March 2019. This restriction is for construction related to the Loop 202 freeway construction. Connect 202 Partners is managing the project. For more information call 1-855-763-5202. 

First Street - Washington Street to Jefferson Street, northbound is closed through December 2019 to accommodate a private development project. For more information call 602-657-0041.

Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) Construction Project: 59th Avenue - Interstate 10 to Estrella Drive and Pecos Road - 48th Street to 59th Avenue, intermittent closures through November 2019. This restriction is required for construction related to ADOT’s Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway). Second Street - Washington Street to Jefferson Street, partial restrictions to accommodate a private development project through December 2019.

Seventh Street - Thunderbird Road to Peoria Avenue, partial restrictions have been extended through March 2019 to accommodate the reconstruction of the North Mountain Tower Road. For more information call 602-359-1131.

Seventh Street - Watkins Street to Interstate-17, partial restrictions in place though March 2019 to accommodate a private development project. For more information call 602-421-3187.
