You can also bring a cup of gourmet brew or bottled beverage into the Jury Assembly Center. Just let Security staff know you’re a Juror.

How should I dress?
Business casual is appropriate for jurors and you may find a sweater or jacket useful, as temperatures vary throughout the Courthouse. Shorts, tank tops and hats are not appropriate attire. Uniforms are not permitted. Uniforms include, but are not limited to; firefighter, military, security, law enforcement, detention officer, nursing scrubs, EMT, and other easily recognized uniforms. If you report to the Jury Assembly Room wearing a uniform you will be asked to change or you will be asked to leave and you will be rescheduled for another date.

What should I expect?
Juror registration is between 7:45 and 8:00 a.m. A detailed orientation begins at 8:00 a.m. Your lunch break is usually from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. and the Jury Center has a list of area restaurants and menus for your convenience. Please plan on staying at the Courthouse until 5:00 p.m.
If you are selected to serve on a jury, you will be required to serve until the trial is concluded, typically one to three days. If you are not selected to serve on a jury, your service is completed the day of your appearance.

What about my employer?
State Law (ARS 21-236) prohibits an employer from discharging, harassing, or discriminating against an employee for being absent to serve as a juror, provided the employee gives reasonable notice of their scheduled jury duty. Employers are not required to pay employees while on jury duty, however many employers elect to provide compensation. You will receive documentation of your jury duty, as some employers require proof of service.

Do I get reimbursed?
You will receive a mileage reimbursement check, unless you use public transportation and choose to receive one bus pass instead. The rate for mileage reimbursement is set by law and the roundtrip distance is based on the mileage from the center of your zip code to the Courthouse. If you are selected to serve on a jury, you will be paid $12 per day, which is set by law.

Checks for jury service are mailed to your home address and typically arrive within four weeks. Questions regarding jury checks should be directed to the Office of the Jury Commissioner at Maricopa County Superior Court at 602-506-5879.
