The city of Phoenix is encouraging for religious and community organizations who lead “street feeding,”  to work with the city to find ways to give and help that  connect the homeless to service providers.  This group seeks a different approach, particularly over the holidays, when giving soars outside the campus of homelessness organizations near downtown Phoenix.

The city is calling the few dozen organizations the Success off the Streets Collaborative. Members are encouraging groups to trade street feeding for work with licensed providers, or to support formerly homeless people once they are housed.

Success off the Streets (SOS) is a faith and community-based collaboration, working with government, businesses and non-profits, to develop street-feeding alternatives and sustainable assistance to end homelessness.

SOS has three different focuses that members participate in:

  • Community Education and Information Outreach on Street Feeding Alternatives through volunteering.
  • Mentorship Program – Training of Mentors to assist newly housed homeless families and individuals adapt to housing and successfully integrate into their communities (Administered through SOS Members – Church for the Nations in Phoenix).  Minimal Free Training is required and optional training is also offered to support mentors through SOS
  • Resource Development – Collecting household items and furnishings and distributing to newly housed families and individuals/Special Events – (seeking storage and transportation options)

SOS has Monthly Meeting – 4th Tuesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Family Advocacy Center – 2120 N. Central Ave., 2nd Floor Conference Room, Phoenix, AZ 85004
