The School Safety Program of the Streets Transportation Department is responsible for reviewing and responding to pedestrian and traffic related concerns that affect the areas around all public, charter, private and parochial K-12 schools in Phoenix. This section is also responsible for working with schools and communities to help educate parents and children through various programs and initiatives to practice safe behaviors within city streets.

The Phoenix Police Department handles speeding and traffic enforcement. The Street Transportation Department does not have law enforcement authority.
