Make a plan today! Your family may not be together if a disaster strikes.  Do you have a family communication plan? Know how you’ll contact one another and reconnect if separated. Establish a family meeting place that’s familiar and easy to find. Download a  family communication game plan sheet and make sure each member of the family keeps a copy in their wallet, purse or backpack.

Make sure your emergency go kit is stocked with the items to last your family for at least 72 hours. Most of the items are inexpensive and easy to find, and any one of them could save your life. Headed to the store? Download a printable version to take with you. Once you take a look at the basic items, consider what unique needs your family might have, such as supplies for pets, or seniors.

Research on preparedness shows that people who believe they are "prepared" for disasters often aren't as prepared as they think.  Could  you turn to your neighbors until help arrives?  G.A.I.N. (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods) is a day for Arizona to join forces and promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity. G.A.I.N. showcases the importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight for a safer Arizona.
