What you'll do

The Children’s Museum of Phoenix is looking for a creative, motivated, and outgoing individual to contribute to our Visitor Experience Department. The Visitor Experience Fellow will gain experience in a fun, playful environment, learn new skills, and assist with our Programs, Visitor Experience and Exhibits teams. During our Fall/Winter season at the CMoP, the Student Worker will collaborate with the Programs Manager, Exhibits Manager and Visitor Experience Manager in preparing and implementing the monthly themes such as SeptSteamber, Hispanic Heritage Month, Native American Heritage Month, Literacy, Transportation and more. The Student Worker will also learn the daily operations within the Visitor Experience Department. The Student Worker will also participate in the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Fellowship Program, receiving the same benefits such as YNPN membership, orientation, Fellows Community Connection Days, etc.


Specific responsibilities

  • Understand the daily operations of the Programs Department, including educational framework, program development, implementation and facilitation, programmatic structure as it relates to partnerships with outside organizations and teaching artists.
  • Develop and manage weekly rotation of Art Studio art projects/programming and record inventory.
  • Catalog and create lesson plans/guides for the current seasons programming as needed.
  • Understand the daily operations of Exhibits Department, transitioning exhibits during monthly themes and supporting the installation of featured artists’ exhibitions in the gallery space.
  • Provide support in exhibit design, maintenance, and revitalization as needed.
  • Participate in the development of new exhibits from concept to completion.
  • Aiding the Visitor Experience management team with operational coverage and safety as needed. ​

Program Manager Holly Garner​

Holly Garner is the Program Manager at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix. Prior to joining the CMoP family, Holly worked in nonprofit, informal educational programming and community outreach for the Arizona Theatre Company, Childsplay Inc., and the Utah Shakespeare Festival. She is proud of her accomplishments while working at various nationally recognized arts & cultural organizations, most notably her development and implementation of the performing arts program, Awakening Creativity, for birth to 5-years-old at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix. Holly received her BA in Theatre Arts Studies, with an emphasis in Hair & Makeup Design at Brigham Young University in 2013 and her MFA in Arts Administration, with an emphasis in Educational Programming and Community Outreach at Southern Utah University in 2016. She continued her professional development with a recent Graduate Certification in Project Management from Grand Canyon University, completed in 2022.

About the program

The Phoenix ArtCorps​​

The Phoenix ArtCorps is a student employment program from the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture  that seeks to provide students with​ the comprehensive skills, mentorship, and experience ​they need to launch their arts and culture careers. Over the course of the 2023-2024 academic cycle​, each student works 400 hours for $17/hr (around 15 to 20 hours a week), with additional stipends and professional development opportunities. To apply, students must be current or recently graduated undergraduate students at a community college, university, or other institution of higher education based in Phoenix (or live in Phoenix themselves). Applicants must be at least 18 years old. There are no other enrollment requirements. Students do not need to be majoring in the arts or similar fields to apply.
