FY24 Grants to the Community

The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture (POAC) will grant over $2 million in FY24. The agency is pleased to announce the Community Arts Grants Program recipients for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. The agency will award $‭1,429,346‬ through 108 grants to arts and culture organizations serving Phoenix residents.

Through the agency’s equity strategy, POAC ensures outreach to all areas of the city and targets applicants from all disciplines, budget sizes, underrepresented populations, and City Council districts. Every year the department sees an increase in orientation and meeting participants, applicants, and applicants awarded. There is a ten percent increase in applications from FY23 to FY24.

The Community Arts Grants Program includes General Support which provides core operating support to arts and cultural organizations of all sizes, and Project Support supports guest artist fees/expenses, production fees, and marketing expenses for arts and/or culture projects that engage residents. In addition, with funding from the Phoenix Convention Center, POAC reopened the Phoenix Stages Program and will support up to $225,000 in rental and security support to long-term renters at the Herberger Theater Center, the Orpheum Theatre, and Symphony Hall.

New this year are Phoenix Flash Grants that support arts and cultural organizations, groups, and individual artists for specific projects within underinvested areas of Phoenix. POAC funded $49,000 for 14 projects that will be presented in City Council Districts 1, 3, and 5. The next deadline for Phoenix Flash Grants is August 15, 2023.

Also, coming up this fall are deadlines for the Artists to Work Program and Phoenix ArtCorps. The Artists to Work Program supports creating and presenting original, new, or in-process artistic work by practicing Phoenix artists. Awarded artists will be required to complete a public presentation inside the city of Phoenix boundaries that primarily benefits Phoenix residents. Phoenix ArtCorps is a student employment program that seeks to provide students with the comprehensive skills, mentorship, and experience they need to launch their arts and culture careers. Both programs will award nearly $300,000 in support.
