Tyler’s welded steel sculpture of a Phoenix bird rises 18 feet above the sidewalk atop a 9' steel pedestal emblazoned with the words “Garfield Rising.” The pedestal holds a time capsule containing reflections from neighborhood residents and students at Garfield Elementary School. Tyler worked closely the Alwun House, the Garfield Neighborhood Association and the nearby school to create the work.​
