Artist Joseph McShane designed his sculpture to track and direct sunlight into the building through specially designed mirrors and lenses. The lenses refract and project the light into shifting rainbow patterns on the building’s interior walls and ceiling. The sculpture relies upon two hand-crafted heliostats mounted atop the library’s exterior. The artist worked with the building’s architect, Will Bruder, to integrate the work into the façade.
