13th Check Information

At their meeting on Oct. 12, 2017, the COPERS Board reviewed the Post Retirement Distribution (13th Check) calculation and determined that funding in the Pension Equalization Reserve Fund was not adequate for a 13th Check in 2017.

2017 COPERS Board Election 

Ballots for the 2017 COPERS Board Election are in the process of being delivered to departments.  If you have not received your ballot by Friday, November 17, 2017, please contact Trista Eaden at (602) 256-4323.  Ballots are due to the Retirement Office by Thursday, November 30, 2017, by 5 p.m.


Reminder Regarding Retirement Dates

Effective January 1, 2016 employees wishing to retire are required to file their Application for Retirement with COPERS 14 or 30 calendar days prior to the date of retirement.  
  • ​Rule of 80 or 87 - 14 calendar days
  • Age 60 w/10 years - 30 calendar days
  • Age 62 w/5 years - 30 calendar days
