In “Flight of Phoenix," Oregon artist David Joyce introduces visitors to local residents.  Phoenix-area residents were invited to participate in a public “fly-in" photo session.  Forty-three of the more than 200 images were then produced as hand-colored photo-porcelain cutouts on steel.  Joyce's approach to public art is to involve people directly.  His mural plays with everyone's fantasy of being able to fly.
