Meet the supervisor

Executive Assistant Director Renee Aguilar

reneeheadshot.jpeg

As Assistant Director at Cultural Coalition, Inc, I have dedicated my career to the greater Phoenix arts and culture community. I have been fortunate to have held positions within some of Arizona's amazing cultural institutions including Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix Center for the Arts, Pueblo Grande Museum, and the Arizona State Capitol Museum. My love for arts and culture has given me the honor of serving in the volunteer positions of Program Director for Central Arizona Museum Association (2021-2023), and on multiple artist and organization grant panels for both the Arizona Commission on the Arts and the Phoenix Office of Arts & Culture. I received my B.A. in anthropology from Arizona State University, and my M.A. in museum studies from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.

As a supervisor, I strive to provide an environment that is both supportive and trusting of others competency. I offer guidance and instruction at the beginning of any project, including the how and why behind all processes and procedures, and encourage others to always follow up with questions and clarification. I value working in a collaborative environment where there is an understanding that there is more than one way of doing things. I strive to take the time to understand how each person on a team prefers to be communicated with, what their work style is, and what they need to feel successful.

I feel energized working with individuals who bring big ideas, can take a task or project and run with it, and are not afraid to fail. I value team members with thoughtful organizational skills, considerate time management skills, and have mutual respect for others deadlines and priorities. My overall work philosophy is that a work environment should feel supportive, progressive, compassionate, purposeful, inspiring, and responsive to both its staff and the community it serves.
