What you'll do

The student worker will primarily be working with the Executive Director of The Sagrado Galleria and will be responsible in the event planning and programming around exhibitions and curatorial projects at the gallery, additionally through special projects and contracts such as 83 acres beautification projected located at the rio salado in South Central Phoenix. The student worker will be an essential part of the Sagrado’s community engagement efforts by being a consistent staff present at the gallery during hours of operation. As well attend community meetings and events. The student worker will assist the branding and marking coordinator in implementing a monthly newsletter, strengthen our communication to South Phoenix residents, especially our connection to younger generations. The student worker will also assist the executive director with the "Featured Tee" project by coordinating The Sagrado's online presence with locat art merchandise and apparel.​​

This will be a mentorship opportunity for the student worker to see themselves as a leader in their community through Arts, culture, and design. 

Specific responsibilities

  • ​​​Work closely with the Executive Director during a consistant weekly schedule for The Sagrado's hours of of operation
  • Create a communications plan with Artist and community members to collect information for upcoming exhibits, workshops, special projects.
  • Conduct Inventory of gallery equipment and displays. 
  • Administrative tasks such as labels, archiving, cataloging, documenting.   Attend community meetings and events.  Strenthen partnerships through relation building   Note taking for community meetings  


Desired qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and Google Business Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Knowledge of the process of creating newsletters.
  • Knowledge of Squarespace a plus.
  • Ability to strengthen and maintain community partnerships.
  • Enthusiasm to learn and grow as a creative person.
  • Mutlitask from administrative to community enegament work.
  • Solution driven.
  • Analytical and creative.

This goal for my community allows me to continuously appreciate my cultural identity and see the beauty of community and individuals that constantly dedicate themselves to participating in positive change. I like to put myself in challenging situations, that has been key for my growth. I am passionate about speaking freely while taking action with innovative ideas, as well as remaining committed to collaboration with community partners. Communication plays a vital role in how I achieve and approach projects, understanding how to connect the dots and making sure everyone has ownership with the process, I strive to create a safe environment that allows members to comfortably share their ideas, thoughts, and concerns. In my role as the Executive/Creative director is to set clear goals and make sure we have the right people to lead while providing the necessary resources and tools support the success of my team members, I also believe that mentorship is a key component to our success as an organization. I look forward to the opportunity of adding a student worker as a new member of my team through the Phoenix ArtCorps Student Worker Program.​

About the program

The Phoenix ArtCorps​​

The Phoenix ArtCorps is a student employment program from the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture  that seeks to provide students with​ the comprehensive skills, mentorship, and experience ​they need to launch their arts and culture careers. Over the course of the 2023-2024 academic cycle​, each student works 400 hours for $17/hr (around 15 to 20 hours a week), with additional stipends and professional development opportunities. To apply, students must be current or recently graduated undergraduate students at a community college, university, or other institution of higher education based in Phoenix (or live in Phoenix themselves). Applicants must be at least 18 years old. There are no other enrollment requirements. Students do not need to be majoring in the arts or similar fields to apply.
