This March, GateWay Community College Environmental Biology students will complete Level 1 Citizen Forester Training through the City of Phoenix. This training includes a classroom presentation by the city Arborist on the value and benefits of trees, basic tree anatomy, and site and species selection. The workshop concludes with a hands on proper tree planting on the GateWay campus. The goal of this project is to foster connections for students between course content and our collective responsibility to improve our communities. It also aligns closely with the city's goal to improve air quality, storm water management, energy savings, shade and aesthetics through landscape improvements. (This is a closed event)
