Deputy City Manager Mario Paniagua

Mario Paniagua​​​​Mario Paniagua began his career with the City of Phoenix in 1998 and since 2015 has served as a Deputy City Manager. He works closely with the Mayor and City Council, Community, City Staff, the Maricopa Association of Governments and Valley Metro on many projects, initiatives and public services. He oversees implementation of the voter-approved Transportation 2050 Plan, the 35-year, $31.5 Billion plan to improve multi-modal transportation infrastructure and services throughout Phoenix. He leads the City’s Advance PHX team, a program that reduces waste and improves customer service. Previously, Mario was the City’s Budget and Research Director for five years, and before that was the City Clerk for five years. He also previously served as Special Assistant to the City Council for four years. Other prior assignments included positions in the City’s Family Advocacy Center and Human Resources and Aviation Departments. Mario has a Bachelor’s degree in Global Business, summa cum laude, from Arizona State University and served in the US Air Force for seven years prior to joining the City of Phoenix. ​
