PHOENIX – The Sunnyslope neighborhood will host its 3rd Annual ‘Slope Fest & Tour de Sunnyslope from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Palma Park, 1135 E. Dunlap Ave. (12th St. & Dunlap).

This free community event will kick off with a family friendly 5k bike ride led by the Desert Horizon Police Precinct bike squad, followed by a festival the whole family can enjoy.

After a two-year pause due to the pandemic, ‘Slope Fest is back with more than 100 participating vendors and organizations.

“We are pumped to have ‘Slope Fest back—the energy from our community groups is incredible. It is important for neighbors to come together and build bonds. ‘Slope Fest is a one-stop-shop where we can educate the community about resources, get to know each other, and promote crime prevention by taking back our parks,” said Jeff Tisot, organizer of the event.

‘Slope Fest is Sunnyslope’s largest signature event. Nine community groups partnered to make the event a reality, including the East Sunnyslope Neighborhood Association and Block Watch, West Sunnyslope Neighborhood Association and Block Watch, Ocotillo Hills Block Watch, Palo Verde Block Watch, Hatcher Urban Businesses, PHX LUV, North Central Heights, North Central Canal Community, and Norton Vista Neighborhood Association.

“Sunnyslope is a special neighborhood in Phoenix because of its history, diversity, and deep sense of community. ‘Slope Fest showcases that community pride,” said Councilwoman Debra Stark. “There are so many dedicated residents, business owners, and organizations who are motivated to improving the quality of life by working together to solve challenges in Sunnyslope.”

Local businesses and organizations, along with City departments, social organizations, and health services are also coming together to offer services and educate the neighborhood about how to create an active and involved community.
