Description
This major street improvement project will install several safety improvements for drivers and pedestrians at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing at the 35th Avenue and Harrison intersection.
Project Highlights
Improve roadway approaches at the tracks, including curb and gutter, sidewalk and pavement
Install a raised median for access control and to accommodate new gate arms
New cantilevers and gate arms by Union Pacific Railroad
Goals of the Project
- Improve vehicular and pedestrian safety at the railroad crossing
- Upgrade ramps and sidewalks to be ADA accessible
- Secure federal funding for railroad safety improvements (Federal Highway Administration Section 130)
Anticipated Schedule
- Design – Spring 2017 to Winter 2020
- Construction is expected to begin Winter 2022
