PHX Mental Health Matters is a citywide awareness campaign that supports the well-being of residents through mental health awareness, education, and access to community resources. The City is committed to helping individuals and families navigate challenges, reduce stigma, and stay connected to supportive services.

Mental and behavioral disorders affect how we think, feel, and live each day. They impact how we handle stress, build relationships, and make choices. Many things can increase the risk of these disorders, such as trauma, other health problems, or alcohol and drug use. By understanding our community’s mental health needs, we can provide help and resources where they’re most needed (MCDPH/CHNA, 2023).

Residents can access a variety of mental health supports, including local services, community organizations, and national hotlines. Common areas of support include:

  • Emotional or behavioral health services
  • Crisis and helpline support
  • Substance use and recovery resources
  • Youth, family, and senior wellbeing resources
  • Wellness and prevention programs

NATIONAL RESOURCES

  • U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - Access resources about mental health in general
  • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) - Mental Health services for families and people who need help
  • 988 Lifeline - Call this 24/7 suicide and crisis line if you are experiencing struggles with mental health, emotional distress, alcohol, drug use concerns, and support
  • Solarioperates 24/7 mental health and suicide prevention crisis hotline, include the 988 lifeline. Provides community-based crisis intervention, mobile team dispatch, and 911 diversion services, aiming to connect individuals with care
  • Mental Health America - A mental health national organization focused on community outreach, mental health screenings, youth programs and peer leadership, workplace resources, and advocacy.
  • NAMI - A grassroots organization dedicated to serving individuals and families affected by mental illness to improve their quality of life and achieve recovery

  • 211 - Call this number to connect individuals and families to immediate crisis resources available throughout Arizona
  • Beia’s Families - A BIPOC organization that provides individual and group therapy sessions
  • Skye’s The Limit  - Provided trauma-informed care services with an emphasis on art as an intervention
  • Southwest Behavioral and Health Services - Provides prevention and school-based mental health services throughout the Phoenix area
  • Hope Lives AZ - Organization focused on mental health advocacy for those in our justice system
  • Community 43Mental health resources for those who suffer from economic isolation
  • Mercy Care Behavioral Health Services – Serves members with general mental health and substance use concern

  • City of Phoenix Community Assistance Program - Behavioral crisis intervention and behavioral health assistance to the community, 602-261-8849.
  • Solari Crisis and Human Services -  24/7 crisis response network
