Examples can include Outreaches where SVM staff are off campus representing the museum or events that are hosted by one of our many sister organizations.

Canal Convergence

Come visit us at our booth during Canal Convergence on November 13th and 14th at the Scottsdale Waterfont! 

Canal Convergence is a free, 10-night public art event that features large-scale artworks, workshops, performances, and more! This year's theme is Western Nature.

Everyone is welcome!

Join the  Study of Ancient Lifeways and Technologies (S.A.L.T.) in the SVM Community Room from 10AM to 2PM on every 3rd Saturday of the month. S.A.L.T. 's primary goal is to understand, practice , and share all life skills and arts of the ancient world. 

S.A.L.T. is a diverse group of people with a desire to understand their ancestor’s life skills. Regular friendly gatherings are held help each other to become proficient in skills such as Cordage, Fiber, Friction Fire, Bone and Stone Tool production, Shelter, Archery, Atlatl and much more...

Arizona Archaeological Society - Phoenix Chapter Meetings

On the first Saturday of every month, the Phoenix Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society (AAS) hosts meetings in the SVM Community Room from 11AM to 2PM free for the public to attend! Each meeting covers a topic regarding Arizona Archaeology with a variety of guest speakers. 

AAS was founded to serve as a bond between professional archaeologists and avocational nonprofessional volunteers in order to foster interest and research in the archaeology of Arizona; to encourage better public understanding and concern for archaeological and cultural resources; and, to protect antiquities by discouraging exploitation of archaeological resources.

Archaeology Cafe with Archaeology Southwest

During the Fall and Spring, SVM hosts Archaeology Cafes in the Community Room in collaboration with Archaeology Southwest on select Thursday evenings from 5:30PM to 7:30PM. Each Archaeology Cafe focuses on a different topic with various guest speakers. 

Archaeology Southwest works with communities to understand and conserve places, as well as the histories, memories, and meanings they hold. They envision a future where people’s relationships with places thrive, guided by shared appreciation, respect, and responsibility. Their headquarters are located on the Homelands of the Tohono O’odham Nation and the lands of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe.
