Central Avenue Lane Reconfiguration and Parking Expansion Washington Street to Monroe Street
The Street Transportation Department has been asked to explore adding public metered parking on Central Avenue from Washington Street to Monroe Street.
The project would add 17 metered spaces to the east side of Central Avenue and result in the removal of one travel lane, reconfiguring three travel lanes into two. This would impact about 750 feet of Central Avenue.

Community Engagement
The planning team held a virtual community meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, to share proposed plans, and invite public input. Community input on this project closed on July 24, 2026.
Community Input Update
Based on input received from the community, both at the public meeting and through submitted feedback, the Street Transportation Department will move forward with the proposed plan.
Sealcoat work will begin in late September, 2026. Followed by pavement restriping and Installation of the new parking meters is scheduled for early October, 2026.
