Prosecutor's Office Extern Training Program

The purpose of the Prosecutor's Office extern training program is to train and mentor law students to become effective attorneys through hands-on practice. These are unpaid positions. Students earn credit through their university for participating.

Trial Bureau:

Each year the Arizona Prosecuting Attorneys' Advisory Council and ASU collaborate to select an ASU law student who will receive what is known as the Truman Young Fellowship. This student externs for a summer semester in the Prosecutor's Office. To qualify, students must become Certified Limited Practice Students. All of these student externs are assigned to the Trial Bureau.

The Prosecutor's Office does not select these student externs. ASU students are assigned by the university through the Prosecution Clinic at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, with the exception of the Truman Young Fellow who is chosen by APAAC and ASU.
