Councilwoman Debra Stark Supports Survivors of Cesar Chavez

I am devastated to hear about the allegations of the abuses of girls and young women at the hands of Cesar Chavez. These women, afraid to hurt the movement they themselves fought so hard for, chose to not share their stories for decades. I am saddened that they felt that holding onto the trauma and pain was their only option. I support these survivors and I am committed to working with my colleagues to ensure that landmarks and holidays in the City of Phoenix named for Mr. Chavez are changed to something that uplifts and honors the farmworkers’ movement as a whole.
