Downtown Phoenix Comes Alive for the El Grito Celebration

PHOENIX, AZ — Get ready, Phoenix! Councilwoman Betty Guardado and the United Phoenix Fire Fighters Association invite you to join us in Downtown Phoenix for an unforgettable celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day filled with music, culture, food, fireworks, and community at the El Grito Celebration on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the heart of Downtown Phoenix.

One of Arizona’s largest and most anticipated Hispanic cultural celebrations, El Grito has welcomed nearly 20,000 attendees and returns this year with an unforgettable evening of live regional Mexican music, traditional performances, authentic food, family activities, and a spectacular fireworks show over Downtown Phoenix.

Taking center stage at El Grito Phoenix are two iconic names in Mexican music—La Original Banda Maguey and Banda Mach—bringing decades of hits and legendary performances to the heart of Downtown Phoenix. La Original Banda Maguey and Banda Mach by Pepe Guardado, pioneers of the iconic quebradita sound whose hits have energized audiences for decades. The evening’s official El Grito Ceremony will feature the Banda de Guerra Bomberos Nogales, honoring one of Mexico’s most cherished traditions.

The celebration will also feature performances by Fiesta Mexicana Dance Company, showcasing the beauty of traditional Mexican folklórico dance, and Mariachi Continental Azteca, bringing the rich heritage and timeless music of Mexico to life.

At 8:15 p.m., the celebration will reach one of the most anticipated moments of the evening with the traditional El Grito Ceremony, honoring Mexico’s Independence and one of the country’s most cherished traditions. Joining the ceremony will be the 60-member Banda de Guerra Bomberos Nogales, bringing an unforgettable display of tradition, pride, and Mexican heritage to the heart of Downtown Phoenix.

Following the ceremony, the celebration will continue toward a spectacular fireworks show lighting up the Downtown Phoenix skyline.

Guests can explore nearly 100 vendor booths featuring authentic Mexican cuisine, artisan vendors, community organizations, and local businesses. From tacos, tamales and aguas frescas to margaritas, micheladas, handmade crafts and family activities, there will be something for everyone. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages.

La Concejal Betty Guardado y la United Phoenix Fire Fighters Association invitan a toda la comunidad a reunirse en el centro de Phoenix para vivir una celebración inolvidable de la Independencia de México, llena de música, cultura, comida, fuegos artificiales y comunidad. La Celebración de El Grito se llevará a cabo el sábado 12 de septiembre de 2026, de 4:00 p.m. a 11:00 p.m., en el corazón del centro de Phoenix.

Considerada una de las celebraciones culturales hispanas más grandes y esperadas de Arizona, El Grito ha recibido a cerca de 20,000 asistentes y regresa este año con una noche inolvidable de música mexicana en vivo, presentaciones tradicionales, comida auténtica, actividades familiares y un espectacular show de fuegos artificiales sobre el centro de Phoenix.

Este año, el escenario de El Grito Phoenix recibirá a dos nombres icónicos de la música mexicana: La Original Banda Maguey y Banda Mach, de Pepe Guardado, quienes traerán décadas de éxitos y presentaciones legendarias al corazón del centro de Phoenix. Pioneros del inconfundible sonido de la quebradita, sus éxitos han puesto a bailar al público durante décadas.

La celebración también contará con la participación de Fiesta Mexicana Dance Company, mostrando la belleza del tradicional ballet folklórico mexicano, y Mariachi Continental Azteca, llevando al escenario la riqueza, tradición y música de México.

A las 8:15 p.m., llegará uno de los momentos más esperados de la noche con la tradicional Ceremonia de El Grito, conmemorando la Independencia de México y una de las tradiciones más importantes del país. La ceremonia contará con la participación de los 60 integrantes de la Banda de Guerra Bomberos Nogales, quienes traerán al corazón del centro de Phoenix una impresionante muestra de tradición, orgullo y herencia mexicana.

Los asistentes podrán recorrer cerca de 100 puestos de vendedores, con auténtica comida mexicana, artesanos, organizaciones comunitarias y negocios locales. Desde tacos, tamales y aguas frescas hasta margaritas, micheladas, artesanías y actividades familiares, habrá algo para todos. Los asistentes deben tener 21 años o más para comprar o consumir bebidas alcohólicas.
