Since 2015, Phoenix has annually been ranked in the top ten. The 22nd annual Digital Cities Survey strives to recognize cities utilizing technology to strengthen cybersecurity, enhance transparency and digital equity, and more.

“Constituents expect more from modern governments. Our Digital Cities survey winners have worked hard to keep the focus on the needs of the communities they serve while implementing technology to improve delivery and execution," said CDG Vice President Brian Cohen. “We congratulate them for leading the way towards a smarter and more responsive government.”

Over the last year, Phoenix launched the new City Manager's Performance Dashboard (CMPR). This online tool provides the public with comprehensive, easy-to-understand information about the many services and programs offered by the City of Phoenix. The redesign includes more than 130 key performance indicators that measure the city's health and identifies potential areas for improvement allowing the city to make more informed decisions. Access the dashboard on the Phoenix.gov/CityManager page.

In addition, Phoenix worked to enhance digital tools to help residents access city services. The myPHX311 app (Phoenix.gov/App) and website portal allows residents to access many city services directly on their phone. Furthermore, Phoenix continues to make updates to the Open Data portal (PhoenixOpenData.com) which promotes transparency in government and accountability to residents by providing important datasets that can be viewed by everyone. Recent updates to map and geographic information system (GIS) online portals (Phoenix.gov/imap) allow the public to view street restrictions, city-owned properties for sale, and the Planning and Development Department's current and proposed zones, permit activities, and much more.

“The Information Technology Services (ITS) department is honored to accept this award on behalf of all City of Phoenix departments that work effortlessly to protect our digital city services and information while striving to achieve our city's strategic goals to enable and foster citizen engagement. Phoenix continues to prioritize the use of digital technologies to increase participation in public matters,” Phoenix Chief Information Officer Steen Hambric said. “With our recently approved Strategic Technology Plan 2022-2026, we look forward to leveraging emerging technologies to improve departmental planning and to further digital experiences that benefit Phoenix residents.”

About the ITS Department: ITS provides technology support and services to the city's complex systems of networks and various technology needs of more than 14,000 employees. The department also manages the city's radio, telephone, and enterprise computer network systems.

About the Center for Digital Government: The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute focused on technology policy and best practices in state and local government.

https://www.phoenix.gov/itsNewsinformation-technology-servicesPhoenix downtownITS@CityofPhoenixAZ #PHXAward, Digital Survey, technology, myPHX311, GIS, Open DataAshley Patton, Deputy Director602-292-3704ashley.patton@phoenix.govhttps://www.phoenix.gov/newssite/Lists/MediaContact/Attachments/89/Ashley_Patton.jpgcityofphoenixazSince 2015, Phoenix has annually been ranked in the top ten of the Digital Cities Survey.

City of Phoenix Holds Community Meeting For Future Fire Station 74https://www.phoenix.gov/newsroom/fire/2945Fire12/1/2023 8:30:00 PMhttps://www.phoenix.gov/newssite/Lists/NewsArticle/Attachments/2945/Newsroom_FIre_Fix.jpgCity of Phoenix Holds Community Meeting For Future Fire Station 74

On Thursday, November 30th the City of Phoenix held a community meeting at Pecos Community Center focused on the plans for future Phoenix Fire Station 74. This will be the fourth fire station addition to Ahwatukee. This will complete the firefighting force for the growing community and greatly reduce response times by crews.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, District 6 Phoenix City Councilman Kevin Robinson, and District 1 Phoenix City Councilwoman and Public Safety and Justice Chair Ann O'Brien were in attendance of the community meeting. Members of the Phoenix Fire Department's Executive Staff and the City of Phoenix's Parks and Recreation Department joined Pearlman Architects to discuss the future fire station.

The meeting focused on sharing conceptual designs from Pearlman Architects and the relocation of the Buresa Trailhead. Because the City of Phoenix already owns the land through the Parks and Recreation Department, the project will be fast tracked. But not to fear, the trailhead is not closing and not going far! The relocation of the Buresa Trailhead will be moved less than ¼ of a mile to the west.

Located on the northwest corner of 19th Avenue and Chandler Boulevard, this will allow for both the enjoyment of the beautiful Phoenix trail and the building of a new 13,250 square foot state of the art fire station.

Built with sustainability in mind, the future Phoenix Fire Station 74 has been designed per the City of Phoenix building design standards and current adopted building codes. It will incorporate environmental design principals similar to LEED to reduce energy consumption and water preservation.

The station will be single story and include three bays to house a fire engine and medical rescue. It will also include thirteen unisex dorms for firefighters to operate 24/7, 365 days a year.

When completed, the Ahwatukee community will have a total of four fire stations with four engine companies, one ladder company, three rescue companies. The city will hire and train 24 new Phoenix firefighters to provide staffing for three shifts and the necessary relief rate. The daily staffing will be six people total, including four on the engine and two on the rescue.

Construction is set for early 2024 with the goal of completing the station by 2025 to begin operations.

https://www.phoenix.gov/fireNews
