Newsroom_PDD - Newsroom_PDD_006

The City of Phoenix Historic Preservation Office is now accepting applications for the 2026–27 Exterior Rehabilitation Grant Program, which provides matching funds to help owners of historic homes maintain and preserve their historic properties.

For this fiscal year, Phoenix City Council approved $200,000 from the General Fund for exterior rehabilitation grants. Additional funding is also available through the 2023 voter-approved General Obligation Bond. With two funding sources in place, eligible homeowners are encouraged to apply early.

The program offers 50/50 matching grants of up to $20,000 for approved exterior work. Eligible projects include roof repairs, masonry restoration, porch work, and reversing alterations that are not consistent with a home’s historic character. Applicants must own a home located in a City-designated historic district or a home individually listed on the City’s Historic Property Register.

The Historic Preservation Office will host a virtual workshop on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 6 p.m. The workshop will explain program requirements, eligible project types, and the steps for submitting a complete application.

Applications are due by Friday, October 9, 2026, at 5 p.m.
