Phoenix Union High School was the first high school in the City of Phoenix. At its peak, Phoenix Union was the largest high school west of the Mississippi with more than 6,500 students on a campus that covered four city blocks, 18 acres and 9 buildings. Today, the remaining historic buildings are part of the Phoenix Bioscience Core and the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
