In the early 1970s, the Corona family began a lease of the Orpheum Theatre, which was then called the Palace West Theater, that lasted about 15 years. The Corona family played a key part in the ongoing restoration and preservation of the Orpheum Theatre. At that time, the Palace West Theater was much more than just a movie theater, the Corona family created a vibrant downtown gathering place for the Phoenix Hispanic community.
