Phoenix Public Library 2026-27 Call for Local Authors
Phoenix Public Library is inviting writers from across the Valley to participate in its 2026–27 Call for Local Authors, open now through May 17, 2026.
This annual initiative highlights the creativity and diverse voices of Arizona’s writing community by providing selected authors with the opportunity to showcase their work, connect with readers, and participate in the Library’s Local Author Fair in November. Authors selected through the Call will also be added to Phoenix Public Library’s Approved Partner & Presenter List, where they may be considered for additional programs and events throughout the year. Authors will remain on the approved list through July 31, 2027.
The Call for Local Authors reflects Phoenix Public Library’s commitment to elevating local storytellers and fostering community connections through literature. Authors across all genres are encouraged to apply.
Submission requirements include:
- Applicants must be current Arizona residents (City of Phoenix employees are not eligible).
- Books must be available for purchase through a Phoenix Public Library contracted vendor, have an ISBN, and be professionally bound if in print or readable on multiple devices if in ebook format.
- Both the application and an electronic or print copy of each submitted title must be received by May 17. Authors do not need to submit a book if it is already in the Library’s collection.
Submitted books will not be returned unless requested. Books may be used as raffle prizes for the Phoenix Public Library Foundation’s annual fundraiser, Dinner in the Stacks, or sold/gifted through the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library.
Books may be mailed or delivered to Burton Barr Central Library, Attn: Kelly Pearson, 1221 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85004. Walk‑in submissions should be delivered to the Customer Accounts service desk on the first floor.
The Local Author Fair will take place Saturday, November 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Burton Barr Central Library. Due to space limitations, not all applicants will be accepted. Selected titles must be available for purchase through a contracted vendor by August 2. Authors will be notified of their application status by July 21.
