S'edav Va'aki Museum Closes for Renovations

This summer, the S’edav Va’aki Museum in Phoenix will temporarily close to the public for 4 months beginning on May 20th for renovations.

This temporary closure will allow the museum to pursue its multi-phase renovation project. Plans include the deinstallation of the “Following Their Roots” and “What’s in Our Name?” exhibits from their respective galleries to prepare for future exhibitions later this year that will enrich the visitor experience.

For the first time in over 20 years the S’edav Va’aki Museum’s curators and educators will implement a newly developed interpretive plan which entails the deinstallation of the main museum gallery, “The Land and the People.” This phase of renovations aims to build a new exhibition layout, modernize displays, and update informative labels that accompany artifacts. In addition, updates will be made to the museum’s HVAC (Heating-Ventilation-Air Conditioning) system to ensure a comfortable environment for visitors and increase protection for the artifacts on display.

During the closure, if visitors want to learn more about what the S’edav Va’aki Museum has to offer, they can visit our Virtual Programming page which has direct links to our Online Exhibits and YouTube Channel. Prospective visitors can even take a virtual tour along the Interpretive Mound Trail via Google Maps.
