Community Invited to Salt River Clean-Up Near Tres Rios on April 11
Rio Reimagined, in partnership with the City of Phoenix, Arizona State University and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), is inviting community volunteers to help clean up a stretch of the Salt River on Saturday, April 11.
The area has been impacted by illegal dumping, and volunteers will play a direct role in protecting the river corridor and the nearby Tres Rios Wetlands.
Event Details:
WHEN: Saturday, April 11 at 8 a.m.
WHERE: 6000 South 91st Avenue, Tolleson, Arizona – in the Salt Riverbed, adjacent to the Tres Rios Wetlands, 1.25 miles south of Broadway Road. Parking is available on the west side of 91st Avenue between Broadway and Baseline. (MAP)
WHO: Open to volunteers ages 8 and up (participants under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).
Why This Matters:
The cleanup site, located west of 91st Avenue, is adjacent to the renowned Tres Rios Wetlands, an important ecological resource known for its diverse bird habitat and restored river environment. Illegal dumping has impacted the area, and community participation is essential to restoring the river corridor and supporting long-term revitalization efforts.
