PHOENIX PLANNED MAJOR STREET RESTRICTIONS – UPDATED NOVEMBER 22

​Motorists should be aware of the following City of Phoenix roadway restrictions and closures and are encouraged to allow for additional travel time.


New Restrictions​

FIRST STREET – McKINLEY TO ROOSEVELT STREETS

First Street between McKinley and Roosevelt streets is scheduled to be closed on a 24-hour basis beginning 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, through January.

First Street will be dedicated solely to pedestrian access during this time.

Pedestrian access to all affected businesses will be maintained.

These closures are required to accommodate concrete and asphalt installations overseen by the city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department.

SEVENTH AVENUE AT OSBORN ROAD

Southbound Seventh Avenue at Osborn Road is scheduled to be restricted to one lane on a 24-hour basis beginning 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, through 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8.

Pedestrian access will be maintained utilizing the south bound curb lane.

All other lanes are expected to be maintained.

Pedestrian and business access will be maintained.

Police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control during construction work hours and weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The restrictions are required to accommodate the demolition and construction of sidewalk and driveways for a private development project overseen by the city of Phoenix Planning and Development Department.

SOUTHERN AVENUE – 59TH TO 67TH AVENUES

Southern Avenue between 59th and 67th avenues is scheduled to be closed beginning Monday, Nov. 27, through March 2018.

All traffic on Southern Avenue will be redirected to 51st and 67th avenues via Baseline and Broadway roads.

Local and business access will be maintained.

12TH STREET –  MARYLAND TO GLENDALE AVENUES

12th Street between Maryland and Glendale avenues is currently restricted to one lane in each direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through January.

All traffic on 12th Street between Maryland and Glendale avenues should allow for addition time when during construction.

PEORIA AVENUE AT 19TH AVENUE

Peoria Avenue at 19th Avenue is scheduled to be restricted to one lane in each direction on a 24-hour basis beginning Monday, Nov. 27, through Friday, Dec. 8.

Left turns will be restricted.

Police officers will be on-site during the day.

CITYSCAPE PHOENIX ICE RINK

Central Avenue between Jefferson and Washington streets is scheduled to be closed through Friday, Jan. 26.

During this event, Central Avenue through traffic will be detoured at Jefferson Street to Second Street.

TURKEY DAY 5K

This event takes place at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23.

The event will begin and end at Wesley Bolin Plaza, 16th Avenue and Jefferson Street.

The following streets will be closed at 7:30 a.m.:

•  Washington Street – First to 19th avenues
•  15th Avenue – Adams to Jefferson streets
•  Jefferson Street - First to 19th avenues
•  Third Avenue – Jackson to Washington streets

Police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control.

All streets will be open to normal traffic by noon Thursday, Nov. 23.

ELECTRIC LIGHT PARADE

This event will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.

The Fiesta of Light, Electric Light Parade route will start at Montebello Road (Phoenix Baptist Church) and proceed south on Central Avenue, east on Camelback Road, and south on Seventh Street to finish at 4200 N. Seventh Street (Veteran’s Medical Center).

There will be no bleacher construction for this event.

The following street will be restricted (as indicated below) at 4 a.m.:

•  Central Avenue – Camelback to Bethany Home roads (one lane in each direction)

The following streets will be closed at 2 p.m.:

•  Camelback Road – Central Avenue to Seventh Street
•  Central Avenue – Camelback to Bethany Home roads
•  Seventh Street – Camelback to Indian School roads

The following streets will be closed at 3 p.m.:
•  Central Avenue – Bethany Home to Indian School roads
•  Camelback Road – Seventh Avenue to 16th Street
•  Seventh Street – Bethany Home to Osborn roads

The following street will be closed at 5 p.m.:

•  Indian School Road – Central Avenue to 12th Street

All major streets, local streets, and driveways will be closed as the parade approaches and reopened as it proceeds, except for Central Avenue from Camelback to Bethany Home roads.

Local traffic will be maintained.

Police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control and business access.

The following streets will reopen to normal traffic by midnight Sunday, Dec. 3:

• Central Avenue – Indian School to Bethany Home roads
• Camelback Road – Seventh Avenue to 16th Street
• Seventh Street – Bethany Home to Osborn roads
• Indian School Road – Central Avenue to 12th Street
