PLANNED MAJOR STREET RESTRICTIONS AND CLOSURES - UPDATED FEBRUARY 15

​Motorists are advised to be aware of the following planned roadway restrictions and closures.

New Restrictions​

SECOND STREET – JACKSON STREET TO BUCHANAN STREET

Second Street between Jackson to Buchanan streets is currently closed in both directions on a daily basis from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday, Feb. 24.

Second Street will be maintained in the southbound direction only during all other times.

Local and business access will be maintained.

The closure is required to accommodate a city of Phoenix, Street Transportation Department waterline installation project.

51ST AVENUE – LATHAM STREET TO I-10 FREEWAY

51st Avenue between Latham Street and the I-10 Freeway is scheduled to be closed to through traffic from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on February 20, 2018.

VALLEY OF THE SUN BIKE RACE

This event will take place from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 18.

The following streets are scheduled to be closed from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18:

•  Jefferson Street – 15th to 19th avenues
•  Washington Street – Seventh to 15th avenues
•  15th Avenue – Jackson to Van Buren streets
•  17th Avenue – Adams to Madison streets
•  Adams Street – 15th to 19th avenues

Police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control.

All streets will open to normal traffic by 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18.


EWING IRRIGATION BLOCK PARTY

This event will take place at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb 20.

Adams Street between Central Avenue and First Street is scheduled to be closed at 6 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 20, through 6 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21.

All streets will be open to normal traffic by 6 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21.

START-UP WEEK – STREET PITCH CHALLENGE

This event will take place at CityScape from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 23.

The following street will be closed from 9 a.m., Friday, Feb. 23 to 12 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 24.:

•  Central Avenue – Washington to Jefferson streets (CityScape)

During this event, Central Avenue through traffic will be detoured at Jefferson Street to Second Street.

All streets will be open to normal traffic by 12 a.m., Saturday, Feb 24.

MATSURI FESTIVAL

This event will take place at Heritage Square from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, and Sunday, Feb. 25.
 
The following street will be closed from 6 a.m., Friday, Feb. 23 to 6 a.m., Monday, Feb. 26.:

•  Monroe Street – Fifth to Seventh streets
•  Fifth Street – Van Buren to Monroe streets

Access to parking facilities will be maintained.

Access to Saint Mary’s Basilica parking will be maintain from Van Buren Street.

Monroe Street will be open to normal traffic by 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26.

Continuing Restrictions

  • Broadway Road – 91st Avenue to 99th Avenue full closure to accommodate a city of Phoenix Planning and Development project. This closure/restriction is scheduled to be removed February.
  • Broadway Road "Avenida Rio Salado" – Seventh Street to 51st Avenue, intermittent partial restrictions to accommodate a city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department capital improvement project.   • Buckeye Road – 59th Avenue to 63rd Avenue, partial restriction to accommodate a Southwest Gas project. This restriction is scheduled to be removed in February.
  • Central Avenue at Watkins Road, partial restriction to accommodate sanitary sewer repairs overseen by the city of Phoenix Water Services Department.   • Elliot Road – 51st Avenue to 59th Avenue, full closure to accommodate the Arizona Department of Transportation's Loop 202 Freeway Project. This closure/restriction is scheduled to be removed in March.   • First Street – Washington Street to Jefferson Street, northbound closure to accommodate a private development project overseen by the city of Phoenix Planning and Development Department. This closure/restriction is scheduled to be removed in 2019.
  • Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) construction project: 59th Avenue – Interstate 10 to Estrella Drive and Pecos Road - 48th Street to 59th Avenue, intermittent detours to accommodate the Arizona Department of Transportation Loop 202 Freeway Project. This closure/restriction is scheduled to be removed in November 2019.   • McKinley Street – Central Avenue to First Avenue, full closure to accommodate a private development project overseen by the city of Phoenix Planning and Development Department.   • Peoria Avenue at 19th Avenue, partial restriction to accommodate sanitary sewer relief program work overseen by the city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department.   • Roeser Road, 32nd Street to 33rd Street is closed to accommodate roadway construction and paving work. This closure is scheduled to be removed in February.
  • Second Street – Jackson to Buchanan streets, full closure to accommodate waterline installation project overseen by the city of Phoenix Street and Transportation Department. This closure is scheduled to be removed in February.
  • Second Street – Washington Street to Jefferson Street, southbound closure to accommodate a private development project overseen by the city of Phoenix Planning and Development Department. This closure/restriction is scheduled to be removed in 2019.
  • Southern Avenue – 59th Avenue to 67th Avenue, full closure to accommodate the Arizona Department of Transportation Loop 202 Freeway Project. This closure/restriction is scheduled to be removed in March.   • 15th Avenue – Glendale Avenue to Maryland Avenue, partial restriction to accommodate gas main installation work. This closure/restriction is scheduled to remain in place through February.
  • 19th Avenue – Hatcher Road to Peoria Avenue, partial restriction to accommodate a sanitary sewer relief program work overseen by the city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department.   • 32nd Street – Broadway Road to Southern Avenue, partial restriction to accommodate a city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department project. This closure/restriction is scheduled to be removed in July.
  • 32nd Street at Indian School Road, partial restriction to accommodate bus bay construction work. This closure is scheduled to be removed in February.
  • 44th Street – Pinnacle Peak Road to Casitas del Rio Drive, full closure to accommodate a private development street improvement project overseen by the city of Phoenix Planning and Development Department.
