Phoenix launches a Citywide food drive to assist residents experiencing food insecurity during the holidays.
Brownfields General Obligation Bond
In 2023, Phoenix voters approved the $500 million General Obligation (GO) Bond Program. The brownfields program received $3 million to assist city departments with environmental assessment and cleanup of city facilities or city-acquired property. Approved projects will be prioritized and allocated over the five-year period of 2024-25 to 2028-29. Prioritized Projects represent, in staff's estimation, the most urgent needs identified by City departments, while offering a balance among the City's service categories.
During the GO Bond’s first actual fiscal year, five departments received a total of $996,634 funding for a total of 38 project sites. The Neighborhood Services Department (NSD) was awarded funding for 33 affordable housing sites. One of these sites included the Marcos de Niza property, located north of Interstate-17, west of South Central Avenue, east of 7th Avenue and south of West Buckeye Road. This 30.5-acre property is proposed to be redeveloped with modern affordable housing accommodations. Learn more about the GO Bond Program by visiting the Projects & Reports page.
