FAA Project Update - 3

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is studying proposed flight path changes throughout the Phoenix area as part of the Phoenix Area FAA Modernization Project.

The Council District 4 Office has created a public comment guide, linked below, to help resident’s organize their thoughts before submitting comments to the FAA.

In addition, a copy of Councilwoman Laura Pastor’s letter to the FAA on behalf of D4 residents is linked below. These resources are meant to coordinate resident’s individual submittals with commonly raised concern by community. Our Council Office believes the FAA may be influenced to revisit proposed actions if numerous residents voiced similar concerns. Please see the resources linked below.

The FAA is currently accepting public comments on the Draft Environmental Assessment through June 30, 2026.

How do I know if my neighborhood is affected?

The FAA has published a Draft Environmental Assessment and an online Noise Mapping Tool that allows residents to compare current and projected aircraft noise levels.

Residents are encouraged to:

  1. Review the Draft Environmental Assessment.
  2. Use the FAA Noise Mapping Tool to evaluate potential impacts near their home.
  3. Submit comments directly to the FAA if they have concerns about how the proposed changes may affect their neighborhood.
