Many a tenderfoot has rented a horse at South Mountain Park Ponderosa Stables, which has provided horseback riding to the public since 1985. To enhance that experience, the artist and landscape architect created a horseshoe-themed entry gate, fencing, landscaping and seating areas for visitors. Berry’s entry gate consists of two sculptural gate panels and columns. He fabricated the 12-foot-high columns out of welded steel pipe, plate and forged rebar.  The 23 concrete hay bales mimic actual hay bales and are integrated into an amphitheater staging area adjacent to the horse corral.  Berry also designed and fabricated a 300-foot-long barrier fence with posts in the form of larger-than-life shoe nails. The welded and forged steel fence has a natural rust patina and supports a series of Ocotillo cactus plantings.
