​The interior mural incorporates the artists' interpretation of ancient Mexican symbols and decorative elements with a central cactus tree symbolizing community and neighborhood. Other elements representing the desert climate, night and day and the importance of water surround and border the cactus. The artists involved the South Mountain Community Center youth group in the painting of the mural.​​
