Election Information

<h2> Form of Government</h2> Phoenix has a Council-Manager form of government. In this form of government, the Mayor and Council Members (elected by Phoenix citizens) set policy and the City Manager (appointed by the Mayor and Council) implements that policy and manages the day-to-day operations of the City.<h2> Mayor and Council Terms</h2><ul style="text-align:justify;"><li> The Mayor is elected at-large by voters residing in Phoenix. The Mayor is elected for a 4-year term and may serve up to two consecutive terms.</li><li> There are 8 Council Members. Each Council Member is elected by voters residing in their corresponding districts. Council Members are elected for a 4-year term and may serve up to three consecutive terms.</li></ul><h2> Consolidated Election Dates</h2> Special elections may be called by the City Council or as required by law. State law allows special elections (if any) to be held on only four dates each year.<ul><li> March (second Tuesday)</li><li> May (third Tuesday)</li><li> August (first Tuesday)</li><li> November (first Tuesday after the first Monday)</li></ul><h2> Phoenix Regular Election Dates</h2> The regular Phoenix elections for Mayor and City Council are held in November of even-numbered years (County-conducted) with any runoff in March of odd-numbered years (City-conducted).<h2> Upcoming Regular Election Dates</h2> Mayor and City Council election dates are staggered. The next regular elections are as follows:<ul><li>Nov. 5, 2024 to elect the Mayor and Councilmembers in Districts 1, 3, 5 and 7 </li><li> Mar. 11, 2025 (Runoff, if necessary)</li><li>Nov. 3, 2026 to elect Councilmembers in Districts 2, 4, 6 and 8 </li><li>Mar. 9, 2027 (Runoff, if necessary) </li></ul>
