City Readies for Red Bull Showrun: What Residents Need to Know

The City of Phoenix is preparing to host the high‑energy Red Bull Showrun, a free, family‑friendly Formula 1 demonstration on March 14. The event will temporarily impact traffic in the downtown area, and residents and visitors should be aware of several important street closures and transit adjustments.

Street Closures

Jefferson Street from 3rd Street to 5th Street, along with surrounding blocks, will be closed starting in the early morning of March 14 and continuing into the evening. With several events happening downtown on March 14, attendees are encouraged to allow extra travel time to reach their destinations safely.

Light Rail Service Changes

Valley Metro light rail service will also be affected. The station at Jefferson Street and 3rd Street will be closed on March 14. Riders should instead use the Downtown Phoenix Hub—Washington Street at 3rd Street and Washington Street stations—for both eastbound and westbound travel.

Route 0 northbound will also be on detour from midnight on Saturday, March 14 until 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 15

Parking

Those attending the event, or any of the downtown events on March 14, are encouraged to plan ahead and reserve parking via the ParkPHX website: parkphx.com

Tips for Attendees

Red Bull Showrun attendees should plan to bring a reuseable water bottle, to hydrate along the event path with free water refill stations. The event features loud noises from the Formula 1 vehicles and guests should be mindful of their hearing health and consider bringing ear protection.
