Phoenix's Enhanced Fireworks Restrictions Begin June 20th

Stage 1 Fire Restriction

As part of fireworks code changes recently adopted by the Mayor and City Council, beginning June 20, the City of Phoenix can activate additional fireworks restrictions when a Stage 1 or higher fire restriction condition is identified. These enhanced restrictions, including at the Stage 1 level, will begin in the City of Phoenix this Saturday, June 20.

The restrictions are in alignment with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Management’s Stage 1 restrictions currently in place and are aimed at reducing the risk of fires sparked by permissible consumer fireworks, which pose heightened danger during hot, dry conditions. According to Phoenix City Code § 2344.2(C), Stage 1 Fire Restrictions prohibit the use of permissible consumer fireworks within a one mile radius of any municipal or county mountain preserve, desert park, regional park, conservation area, national forest, or wilderness area.

The temporary measures are intended to protect residents, property, and natural open spaces during a period of elevated fire risk.

Community members can find updates, the current status of fire restrictions and whether their address is impacted at Phoenix.gov/CelebrateSafely.
